Living History-NORSE AND ROMAN MYTHOLOGY

Come join us for some hands-on Living History projects, exploring the mythology of the Norse people, as well as the Ancient Romans! We'll look at several characters, possibly including Odin, Thor, Loki, and Mimir, as well as Jupiter, Juno, and Minerva. A nice balance of activities is complemented by brief instruction at the beginning of each lesson. We'll have building, role-play, craft, and other projects. Take advantage of this fun way to learn history--great for history buffs and history-phobes alike!

Then, engage in a variety of improv and theatre games! Use your imagination to create characters and scenarios in this fast-paced exercise in creativity; also, be prepared to laugh--a lot!

1:15-2:15 and 2:30-3:30 PM: Science; Tinkering/Crafting

Join us for a variety of fun, hands-on Science lessons that may draw from Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and Ecology; lessons may include air pressure experiments, plant experiments, active ecology games, and lessons involving movement. Then, enjoy doing some tinkering and crafting; many of these projects are ones you may take home!

Mr. Scott with A.T.E.A.M

Scott has enjoyed teaching students for nearly 30 years in alternative settings, including his current primary work with ATEAM Homeschool (2015-present), outdoor/environmental education, most recently with the Web of Life Field School (or WOLF School, 2000-2012), and summer Science camps through Santa Cruz County Parks.

Scott believes in a hands-on learning approach for students, which is exemplified in his various Living History and Science classes, among others.  Viewing himself as a planter of seeds, Scott strives to spark interest in topics that he teaches, leading to the possibility of students learning more in their life-long learning journeys.

Personal interests include music, baseball, chess, and spending quality time with his wife, Katie.
